برای افرادای که بخواهند وارد دنیای شبکه های کامپیوتری بشوند و دانشی تخصصی و کاربردی در این زمینه کسب نمایند این دوره می تواند نقطه شروع خوبی باشد ، چرا که علاوه بر آشنایی با مفاهیم شبکه های و اتصالات آنها با مفاهیم اساسی در شبکه های کاربردی امروزی از قبیل مسیر یابی و سوئیچینگ نیز آشنا خواهید شد . دانشی کرا که در این دوره بصورت تئوری و عملی کسب می کنید می تواند در مسیر کاری حرفه ای برای شما بسیار مفید و سودمند باشد و می تواند سطح شغلی و حرفه ای را تا حد زیادی افزایش دهد .
این دوره از دو بخش مقدماتی (ICDN1) و بخش تکمیلی (ICDN2) تشکیل شده است که در صورتیکه 2 موضوع از چهار موضوع مربوط به این دوره را بگذرانید می توانید مدرک ICDN1 را دریافت کنید و در در صورت گذراندن دو موضوع دیگر مدرک اصلی این دوره که همان CCNA Routing and Switching می باشد را کسب خواهید کرد .
